Soap Favor Info Page

Hi! Welcome to In The Buff Soaps! You've reached this page because you may have received a bar of soap as a favor at a wedding or bridal/baby shower. I hope you love your soap! Here's some valuable info regarding this handmade cold process soap:

First and foremost... what's in the soap? My soaps all have the same basic recipe, with varying color micas and fragrance oils. The base ingredient list is: water, coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil, sodium hydroxide, rice bran oil, fragrance, white kaolin clay, sodium lactate, color micas

All of my bar soaps sold here are HANDMADE by me personally from scratch in small batches.  Each bar is unique, therefore sizes will vary from 4-4.5oz each after cure time. Please allow for some variations in color and size. You may have received a half size bar or a full size bar as a favor for the event that you attended.

Here's my geek spiel....... Why handmade soap instead of commercially made "soap"? Handmade cold process soap is made with a process called saponification, which produces natural glycerin and soap as a result. What is saponification? Saponification is the name of the chemical reaction that produces soap. In the process, oils and butters are converted into soap (a fatty acid) and alcohol. The reaction requires a solution of an alkali (sodium hydroxide or lye) in water and also heat. This makes the difference between real soap and commercially manufactured soap (which is made with detergents and includes the removal of the natural glycerin that is produced by the natural soap making process). I primarily use the cold process method, and occasionally the hot process method of soapmaking. All of my handmade cold process soaps are cured for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Soap is for external use only.  Please keep your soap bar on a tray that allows water to drip, as opposed to letting it sit in a puddle or stream of water. I want you to enjoy your soap for  as long as possible. Please consider purchasing an oak soap deck in my shop to help with this. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

FDA required disclaimer: I do not make any claims regarding the cosmetic or health related properties of these handmade soaps.
