Custom and personalized orders
Custom loaves / batches are available for special occasions. Wedding or shower favors are also available. Please send an email for pricing and to discuss the fragrances and colors. Please remember that custom orders for soaps will take a total of 6-8 weeks including cure time.
Care instructions
Homemade soaps will last a long time as long as they are able to “drip dry”. Please keep your soap bar on a tray that allows water to drip, as opposed to letting it sit in a puddle or stream of water. I want you to enjoy your soap for as long as possible. Please consider purchasing an oak soap deck in my shop to help with this.
Where else can I find In The Buff Soaps?
If you’re lucky enough to live in Western NY, you’ll find my soaps at:
BFLO Store (multiple locations in WNY)
Thin Ice Gift Shop (Buffalo, NY)
Creekside Floral (Medina, NY)
What is Saponification?
Saponification is the name of the chemical reaction that produces soap. In the process, oils and butters are converted into soap (a fatty acid) and alcohol. The reaction requires a solution of an alkali (sodium hydroxide or lye) in water and also heat. This makes the difference between real soap and commercially manufactured soap (which is made with detergents and includes the removal of the natural glycerin that is produced by the natural soap making process). I use the cold process method, and occasionally the hot process method of soapmaking. All of my handmade cold process soaps are cured for 6 weeks
